Precedente
Today I woke up and wrote in my notebook a beautiful plan for the things I wanted to do.
A little while later, visitors came to the house.
It was life with its urgencies, and we started to chat.
Now the notebook seems like a thing of yesterday, even though it’s from today.
I already knew in advance what things they were going to bring up,
but I still listened.
I never give in when the situation doesn’t seem right,
but I do listen when I see convenience.
While urgencies spoke, they confirmed my idea.
One denies what one knows until life reminds them.
Now I challenged myself to a duel
between a tired, exhausted, and oscillating Manuel
and an absorbed, naive, and indifferent Manuel.
Everyone knows who has to win,
except the one who has to win.
It’s always about the same thing.
Precedent.
